Bible drillers excel in nationals

DALLAS?Three SBTC Bible Drill finalists were among 20 students from nine states who competed in the eighth National Invitational Bible Drill Competition in Dallas in June.

Sisters Clara and Hannah Boyett from Tanglewood Baptist Church in Jasper both earned a perfect score in the Bible drill competition, joining nine others who earned that mark. Clara Boyett competed in the high school division, Hannah Boyett in the junior high division.

Josh Knoff, a high school student from Galloway Avenue Baptist Church in Mesquite, won second place in the speech competition. Knoff will present his speech again during the Equipping Churches Conference Aug. 13-14 at Sagemont Church in Houston.

“I just want to say that those three kids conducted themselves in an honorable fashion,” said SBTC Bible Drill coordinator Lucian Stohler. “All of us can be proud of their achievement. They represented their churches and the SBTC very well in every way.

“I never prayed that they would win but that they would do their best. My prayer was answered.”
